Quantum biological rice
Quantum biological rice
By Mattis Bilkis + Rucha Benare
In the context of biomechanics exhibition, we intend the poems to serve as an artistic bridge between biology and quantum physics disiplines. Poems constitute images that capture concepts ranging from emergence to societal organizations across the world. These images habitate in a superposition, and we play with the idea of quantum superpositon (fundamentally encoded in the Bloch sphere and the quantum canonical cell coined by 'quantum bit').
When reading the information out of a quantum state, superpositions and quantum effects are lost; we can picture a 'quantum superposition sacrifise' in favour of reading quantum information out of the Bloch sphere. In the context of this exhibition, poems are living on the surface of a giantic rice sphere; each possible configuration of the rises that is compatible with the current rice-ball layout constitute a possible superposition (of course, this is fundamentally different than how quantum systems behave, but we are making a poetic metaphore here).
Each rice, each grain, is a piece of quantum information that co-habitates the giantic ball, and removing it is as reading the poem: a beautiful sacrifice that helps us understand reality better.
